Christian Vasquez, My parents arrived in America from El Salvador. I am thankful for my parents' bravery in making this transformative decision that changed my life forever. I was born in Los Angeles, CA, during the time of the infamous LA riot that was caused by the death of Rodney King. That spurred a move to Seattle, WA, and settled down in BC, Canada.
I graduated from Gallaudet University in Washington DC with a BA degree in American Sign Language (ASL) and track record in winning ASL storytelling competitions and a reputation as an up-and-coming professional ASL storyteller and performer in the Deaf community at different events including DeafNation, ASLTA, and Deaf Entrepreneurship Network, DeafThrive, ASL Element Competition Gallaudet University, and more.
I am a translator, ambassador, editor, actor, writer, and instructor. Also a founder of ASLCart.com, and it's an acclaimed ABC Luck! Card game. It is a card that promotes storytelling during playing.
My recent milestones were involved in a project for Lower Elwha Tribal focused on translating Native Americans Myths and when I was selected to perform Sign Language Arts Workshop at Riksteatern Crea in Stockholm, Sweden.
My recently completed project:
Visual Vernacular Arts training series for ReDeafining Theatre, April 15-16th, Calgary Alberta
Director of Artistic Sign Language for the play “GASLIGHT” and “CLOUD TECTONICS” In April and October 2022 at Sound Theater Company in Seattle, WA.
